Ever since he started swimming at the early age of six, Enchong Dee has always enjoyed the discipline that goes with his regular workouts and training as a varsity team member at De La Salle University-Manila. Five times a week, Enchong wakes up before dawn to head to school for training before heading to class. The 20-year old is looking forward to graduating from his studies this July. He also has a list of projects coming up as part of the cast of the upcoming teleserye Ikaw Lamang, which also stars Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. As one of the cover models for this month’s issue of Chalk magazine, Enchong talks about how he has always kept his life on track. “When I was 13, I had my plans set already. It’s already a routine for me to plan what I’m going to do next year. You’ll go on a better path if you have a plan,” he says in the cover story.

While documenting a day in the life of Enchong Dee last January 29, ABS-CBN.com managed to chat with him about his views about romance while en route to the Coke campaign launch in Makati. The young actor-swimmer revealed how it was like for him handling a relationship in his mid-teens. “I was 16 when I first had a girlfriend. Teammate ko siya. I can’t remember na rin kung gaano kami tumagal. But okay naman kami kahit nag-break kami. We text every now and then. She’s in Cebukaya bihira ko na siya makita. After her, I met someone from school. Wala pa ako sa showbiz nung maging kami pero nung mag-aartista na ako tsaka kami nag-split. Pero it was a good thing that we remained friends after that. Walang conflict kahit na nag-break kami.”

Champion swimmer Enchong Dee admitted he was feeling down more than a month ago because he had no idea then what his next project would be after Your Song Presents My Only Hope. But before he knew it, opportunities came knocking on his door, including being the sole male youth ambassador for the Drink Coke, Wear A Smile promo. “Thankful talaga ako kasi for one to two weeks last year medyo nalungkot ako dahil hindi ko alam kung meron ba’ng nakaline-up for me or wala. Tapos bigla na lang dumating yung ganitong opportunity,” he admitted during Coca-Cola’s campaign launch and Bench fashion show at Bonifacio High Street last January 15.
