Libo-libong fans ang dumagsa sa Quirino Grandstand Luneta Park noong nakaraang Linggo, January 22, para mapanood ang pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year ng ASAP 2012. Star-studded ang nasabing pagtatanghal. Halos lahat ng ASAP Kapamilya stars ay nandun para makiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year. Pinalamutian ng mala-Chinese temple at China Town ang stage ng Quirino Grandstand, pulang pula ang kulay nito at punung puno ng pink Chinese flowers na may malaking dragon na nagbubuga ng puting usok.
Bonggang bongga ang pagtatanghal ng ASAP noong Linggo lalo ang makulay na opening number ng mga ASAP Kapamilya stars. Sinimulan ang pagtatanghal ng mga dragon dances. Sinundan ito ng opening song number ng dalawang heartthrobs ng Kapamilya na sina Piolo Pascual at Sam Milby kasama sina Xian Lim, Enchong Dee at Enrique Gil.
Tilian naman ang mga tao nang lumabas si Cristine Reyes suot ang isang sexy red Chinese dress with matching hairdress. Nakasakay siya sa isang Chinese cart na bitbit ng kanyang boyfriend na si Rayver Cruz na nakasuot din ng Chinese wardrobe. Sinundan sila ng mga masiglang awit nina Yeng Constantino, Iya Villania, Angeline Quinto, Nikki Gil at Karylle na pawang nakasuot din ng red dresses na may Chinese-inspired head dresses. Muling nagtilian ang mga libu libong manonood nang lumabas sa stage sina Kim Chiu, Empress at Julia Montes na sumayaw hawak-hawak ang kani-kanilang swords.
ABS-CBN Star Magic artists Jake Cuenca, Maja Salvador, Sam Milby, Maricar Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo, Melissa Ricks, Matt Evans, Shaina Magdayao, Enchong Dee, Erich Gonzales and Pokwang are looking forward to a busy year of the dragon.

Like Erich, Enchong is very happy with the high-ratings of “Maria la Del Barrio” and he will also start filming the movie, “The Reunion,” under Star Cinema with Xian Lim, Megan Young, Enrique Gil and Julia Montes. Enchong admits that this 2012 he is ready to tackle mature characters on screen and do sexy roles. His 2012 endorsements include Jollibee, Convergys, Coke, Bench clothing, Nutrilite/Amway, Technopack and GAOC.
Enchong Dee maintained that he’s not bothered by Julia Montes’s team-up with Coco Martin and the fact that they’re expected to do a lot of intimate scenes in ABS-CBN’s newest primetime soap, Walang Hanggan. “No, I’m really happy for the two of them like kunyari kay Julia mature yung role na gagampanan niya and kay Coco super love story naman. At ang daming nagsasabi na maganda yung kinalabasan ng pilot episode nila,” he said in a recent interview with Push.com.ph.
Enchong further shared that he’s good friends with Coco since they previously worked together in the movie Sa ‘yo Lamang. “Nung nagkatrabaho kami sa Sa ’yo Lamang, sabi niya sa akin, ‘Basta kung may gusto kang gawing indie film, sabihin mo lang, tutulungan kita, bibigyan kita ng advice kung okay ba.’ He’s like an older brother to me.” When told that Coco was once romantically linked with Julia, he simply replied, “Single naman siya, bakit hindi ‘di ba?”
Nevertheless, Enchong defended Julia from people who don’t approve of her pursuing a mature role at her young age. “Hindi naman siya daring. Kasi yung mentality sa daring bastos agad. Kumbaga, daring in a way na more than her age yung role. Ang masasabi ko lang kay Julia, congratulations, kasi yung ibang artista nahihirapan makawala from being a teenybopper, pero siya ngayon nag-level up na talaga sa Walang Hanggan.”
After the slapping incident between the characters of Erich Gonzales (photo, with Enchong Dee) and Jewel Mische, viewers can expect for more tension-filled scenes on ABS-CBN’s Maria La Del Barrio. Sabrina (Jewel) is now ready to bring Maria (Erich) down at all cost, including destroying her rival’s company. But will Sabrina succeed with her plans if she finds out that his husband Luis (Enchong) never had any feelings for her? Meanwhile, as Maria’s memory clears up on the night when she lost her child, will she finally discover that her baby and Sabrina’s little girl is one and same person? Maria la del Barrio airs weeknights after Reputasyon.
On top of being a prolific young actor and occasional dancer, Enchong Dee hopes to unleash his inner “Karaoke King” in the near future.
“Gusto kung sa gusto. Naunahan lang ako ni Anne [Curtis], eh,” the 22-year-old star told PEP in jest about being a singer
“Kahit naman sinong Filipino, bigyan mo ng videoke diyan, uubusin ‘yung limang piso sa wallet nila para lang makakanta nang makakanta.
“At isa ako dun!” he confessed.
Enchong revealed that he’s been wanting to flex his singing muscles for the longest time. Fortunately, the “Maria la del Barrio” star’s next movie project will not only require him to act but to hit some notes as well, which would enable him to tap on this “hidden talent” of his.

“May mga nagsasabi sa akin na ganun ang problema namin, pero hindi.
“Kumbaga, kahit naman siguro magkakapatid, nagkakaroon ng tampuhan.
“And I can say na magiging mas makulay yung relationship namin ni Erich.
“Kasi nga, may sweet part, may bitter part, mayroong funny part…
Apart from being one of the leading heartthrobs in Philippine Cinema, Enchong Dee is also a known swimmer who had even participated in previous Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the Asian Games.
“I eat everything, basta make sure you’re gonna work it out, gumagalaw ka. The amount you eat, gumagalaw ka, ganun din,” said Dee who cited that he follows a simple regimen that include ensuring that he drinks eight glasses or more of water daily, limiting direct exposure to sunlight, separating the fats from the meat that he eats, and smiling after he wakes up.
“Don’t forget to smile when you wake up, nakaktulong yun. And when you smile some people, nadadamay sa iyong smile,” he added.

Featured in the first leg of the Kapamilya Karavan held yesterday, January 14 at Ayala Mall Terraces, were the Kapamilya network’s biggest stars such as Gerald Anderson of “Budoy,” Enchong Dee of “Maria La Del Barrio,” Kaye Abad of “Angelito,” and Jason Francisco, Melai Cantiveros, Jason Gainza, Ryan Bang and Pooh of “Banana Split.”

Tentatively titled as The Reunion, Star Cinema’s latest movie offering gathers four of the hottest young actors to date: Enchong Dee, Xian Lim, Enrique Gil, and Kean Cipriano. The movie follows a barkada who are bound together by their passion for music and their respective pursuit of happiness.
“Ipapakita yung journey na close friends sila nung high school, tapos several years later nagkita-kita ulit sila. Meron silang hinahanap na kulang. Meron kasi silang ginawang kasalanan nung high school na feeling nila kaya hindi sila nakapag-move on sa buhay nila dahil hindi pa sila nakakapag-make amends sa ginawa nila before. Ito yung journey ng apat para hanapin yung sarili nila saka hanapin yung dating sinaktan nila at minahal nila,” said director Frasco Mortiz during their story conference at the Star Cinema office last January 10.
Although it’s their first time to work together, the four actors seemed to have established instant rapport as a group. Enchong further elaborated on the subject, “Exciting kasi first time namin makakasama si Kean. Sino ba naman ang hindi gustong makasama ang isang napakagaling na musician? Tapos for 2011, most talked about actor si Xian at si Enrique. So maganda yung mix ng group. We’re working on our camaraderie, pero yung initial meeting namin ngayon, ganito na kami [kakulit], paano pa kaya kapag nag-bonding na kami.”
