The singles and doubles at the Star Magic Ball
So, who went with whom?
The answer to this question was captured in photos and videos of celebrities who graced the fourth annual Star Magic Ball held Sept. 5 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Real-life sweethearts, onscreen partners and unlikely pairings—among the sea of over 300 stars—paraded down the red carpet with their designer suits and gowns.
Real-life couples who attended the ball included Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Boy Sotto, “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up” winners Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, ever-controversial pair Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban, director Paul Soriano and Toni Gonzaga, and for the first time, Shaina Magdayao and John Lloyd Cruz.
Rumored sweethearts Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion, as well as Jake Cuenca and Melissa Ricks, also went to the event together.
Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales, Queenie Padilla and Ejay Falcon, Matt Evans and Empress, and rumored ex-lovers Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson were some of the teleserye love teams who were seen to have arrived together.
Bea Alonzo came to the ball with her “Sa ‘Yo Lamang” leading man Zanjoe Marudo, while Zanjoe’s “Kristine” leading lady, Cristine Reyes, went with Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista. Many were also surprised to see Maja Salvador with Matteo Guidicelli.
Ex-couple Sam Milby and Anne Curtis (who went together as a couple in the previous year’s ball) coincidentally both arrived solo. Diether Ocampo (who had just broken up with Rima Ostwani), Andi Eigenmann, Yeng Constantino and Rafael Rosell were also spotted without dates.
The stars’ fashion statements were recognized that night. “Imortal” co-stars John Lloyd and Maricar were awarded King and Queen of the night, perennial love team partners Kim and Gerald were hailed Best Dressed, “Magkaribal”’s Erich and Enchong were named “Most Romantic Pair of the Night,” former “Rubi” pair Shaina and Jake the “Fashionista Award,” and Bea and Zanjoe were awarded the “Most Stylish.”
Messy-haired and plum-lipped Anne Curtis won the “Most Glamorous Female” award, while comedienne Kitkat was recognized for being the “Most Fashion Forward.”
ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio received the “Most Elegant Female” award.
For being an inspiration to his co-artists, Piolo was given the “Star Magic Icon” award.
Coke Zero’s “Wild and Fit” award went to budding stars AJ Perez, Joseph Marco and Jessy Mendiola, while the soon-to-be married Kristine and Oyo were declared the “Moet and Chandon Sparkling Couple.”
Not only did the artists flaunt themselves in their most stylish that night, they also exhibited their talents. Pokwang, the Star Magic Glee Club, “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT) finalists, Jed Madela and Concert King Martin Nievera entertained the audience with their respective performances.
Also present in the Star Magic Ball are ABS-CBN’s big bosses Gabby Lopez (chairman and CEO), ABS-CBN Publishing Head Ernie Lopez and former “PGT” judge Freddie M. Garcia.
