Enchong on Erich: ‘Ayaw naming magkarelasyon dahil …’
With Enchong Dee’s recent admission that he is pursuing a non-showbiz girl and that he and leading lady Erich Gonzales have agreed to just remain friends, people are curious if the two are not worried about their fans getting disappointed over it. “’Yung mga totoong fans namin na nakakausap namin sinabihan na namin. Siguro kasi ‘yung mga hindi namin nakakausap like sa TFC ‘yung mga ganon, inamin naman namin before na nagkaroon ng something sa simula,” Enchong revealed. “Pero kumbaga maganda talaga na maging magkaibigan na lang and have our own separate lives off cam. I just want to say na in real life we’re very, very close. No question, no doubt [about it] but in real life, kailangan talaga trabaho muna ang unahin.”
Though Enchong said that he courted Erich before, they realized that it would be better if they just stay as friends for the sake of their careers. The actor also justified that they won’t force themselves to be together just because their fans want them to be a couple in real life. “Ayaw naming magkaroon ng relasyon dahil lang sa patok ‘yung love team,” he said. “Gusto naming maging totoo kung ano man ‘yung nangyayari. Kaya nga po nandito kami dahil gusto ng mga tao. Kasi kung wala din namang suporta hindi rin naman kami magsasamang dalawa. Pero ang maganda do’n kaming magkaibigan, hindi kami magkaaway, wala kaming alitan, inaalagaan ko siya [at] inalagaan niya ako.”
He shared that he and Erich do not want their work to be affected by any personal conflicts that sometimes occur in a relationship so they agreed to settle with friendship. “’Yung mga nangyayari sa amin ngayon alam mo ‘yung antagal-tagal na naming hinihintay na baka ngayon ‘pag may distractions na mahalo hindi pa maganda ‘yung turnout kasi unang-una, kaming dalawa ni Erich kapag napag-uusapan namin, gustong-gusto namin ‘yung ginagawa namin, tsaka kung ano ‘yung nangyayari sa amin ngayon, iniingatan lang namin,” said Enchong.
The actor-athlete also admitted that Erich is updated about the status of his love life, and said that Erich actually volunteered to help him with the girl, though he asked her not to because he wants to do it on his own. “Nakakatuwa si Erich, kahit on-cam mismo, nagkukulitan kami na nagbubulungan. Kumbaga alam namin ang tungkol sa isa’t isa.” Aside from being really close, Enchong explained that talking about their personal lives also helps them work better together. “Kasi minsan gagawa ng eksena tapos, ‘O, ba’t malungkot ka ngayon?’ Pagod, ah kasi may inayos pala siya o may pinanggalingan pala siya, so importante ‘yon.”
And while not everybody is happy about the news that Enchong and Erich have decided to set aside any romantic possibilities between them, Enchong said that he will continue to work with Erich as a love team as long as people are happy to see them together in a project. “As long as there is a person, one or two or three, na nai-inspire o napapasaya namin, I won’t stop just because millions don’t like our team up. I’m just so glad na after the admission ang lakas pa rin ng Magkaribal. They still accept us for who we are,” he said.
