Ben Chan gets his wish – Bench is global

Bench UNCUT Fashion Show - Stage (July 02)Male point of view

In a pre-show interview, Chan talked about his intentions to come up with a more “balanced” show. One of the reasons he hired Manahan, he said, was to give “Uncut” a “male point of view.” Chan seemed to have failed in this respect.

Judging from the audience’s reactions, Katrina Halili and her show biz sisters were no match to the likes of JC de Vera, Enchong Dee, Coco Martin, Wendell Ramos and, okay, an overacting Jake Cuenca. Despite looking hotter than usual, Karylle hardly made an impact. Only Chiu, among the women, was able to hold her own.

But while Ramos and Cuenca had to resort to showing off their butts just to draw lusty cheers, Dee and Martin didn’t even have to strip to their briefs to cause near pandemonium. In fact, Martin had his neoprene jacket on from start to finish.

And what’s with the “Incredible Hulk” act Cuenca pulled off? He did it not once, but thrice, striking an “angry” pose on each side of the stage.

Such a cliché routine deserves an equally cliché response: We know you’re supposed to be hot, pero ba’t ka galit? (But why are you pissed?) If there was one scene from “Uncut” that Chan and his cohorts needed to cut, that was probably it.
