Have a Coke and a shirt from Bench
To say that fashion represents the pulse of the generation is perhaps not an overstatement. Now, more than ever, teens have greater liberty when it comes to defining what their sense of style is, proudly showing to the world who they are and what they believe in, as a one-of-a-kind display of their individuality. And what better way to express their uniqueness than with stylish additions to anyone’s closet? With bold and vibrant colors, coupled with attention-grabbing copy prints, this season’s statement shirts are the trendiest must-have fashion items to look out for.
Three of 2009’s biggest and most successful young artists, Enchong Dee, Kim Chiu and Shaina Magdayao, who incidentally are also the fresh faces behind the new trend that has captured the attention of teens everywhere, the Coca-Cola Smile Statement Shirts by Bench, shares what it takes to face challenges and opportunities always with a spirit of positivism. With youthful shout-outs, the shirts were introduced as a way of creating innovative and stylish ways to make fashion fun and refreshing.
“I’m sure everyone will like it,” says Enchong cheerfully about the shirts. “It’s stylish and at the same time, it’s something we need now especially through tough times. It’s a reminder to smile.”
Kim eagerly adds, “One word to describe it is ‘masaya.’ I think it is another way of showing just how much happiness people get and feel every time they drink Coke.”
For Shaina, it’s looking at the bright side of life that rings true about the Coke Smile Statement Shirts. “I think the Coke Smile Statement Shirts are very trendy and at the same time they are cool ways to express positivism,” she shares.
How is it that such celebrated personalities as Enchong, Kim and Shaina are still able to balance their priorities and to smile back at life? The three teen icons share the details.
“I just pray and leave all my doubt, heartaches and worries to God because I deeply trust that He will guide me with whatever I do in life,” says Kim.
Shaina imparts, “I see to it that I thank the Lord for all the blessings he gives me. Whenever I feel tired and sad, I always think about those blessings and realize how lucky I am,” Kim adds.
Enchong says earnestly, “For me, I have a clear vision of what I want to happen in my life and the things that make me happy and fulfilled as a person. I set my priorities according to what I feel is relevant and important especially when it concerns my character formation.”
With all of their responsibilities and busy schedules, what’s even more admirable about the three teen stars is their love for life, their unshakeable optimism and dedication to their craft. When asked what about their lives right now makes them smile, Shaina says, “Being able to do what I love to do which is acting and performing. And nothing compares to being able to inspire people in my own way.”
Kim pipes in, “For me, challenges and opportunities given to me make me smile, because I’m being given new reasons to become better at things.”
Enchong sums it up by saying that family and friends (“plus chocolate!” the young star added with a laugh) make him smile each day. “Being happy and smiling back at life is very important to all three of us. It somehow assures us that we are on the right track in our life.”
In these tough times, what better way to flaunt positivism than to show the world how happier life can be with the hottest craze to hit the metro? With fashionable statement shirts, teens everywhere can express their colorful personalities while still making a declaration of what they consider important in their lives, spreading a sense of optimism that serves as a reminder to everyone to keep smiling, while looking their best.
